NECIC North End Elder Program

Are you a North End resident age 60 and over?

If so, you are invited to join the NECIC North End Elder Program, a fun social and educational event held the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.

What is the Elder Program?

The NECIC North End Elder Program is your chance to give and receive input, news, and updates about the North End area, people, and events. The Elder planning team, made up of area seniors, plans all activities and speakers, and requests a small donation for each event.

When and where Is It?

Meetings are held from noon to 1:30 p.m., at the United Steelworkers Local 169 located at 376 W. Longview Avenue. The second Tuesday event features speakers on topics of interest to seniors, while the fourth Tuesday event includes social activities. Lunch is served at each event.

Why should I attend?

  • See old friends
  • Reminisce, pass the time, have fun!
  • Gain valuable information about topics that are important to YOU!

What should I expect?

  • Guest speakers on topics such as neighborhood safety, public education, health-related concerns, and anything you deem important!
  • Fun! Bingo, arts and crafts, line dancing, and more!

Are there extra activities?

Yes! NECIC’s Small Grants Program is proud to support community projects proposed by seniors. Past activities North End Elders have organized include:  bus trips to Amish Country and a Cuyahoga River/Lake Erie cruise, Pampering Me makeover program with Mansfield Senior High cosmetology students, a slumber party, and a paper product giveaway.

You are our history, and we need you for our future

NECIC hopes to further promote our strongest program through more participation of North End seniors and community members.  Traditionally seniors have been important leaders, and a community has looked to their elders for their wisdom, guidance, and historical perspective.

Seniors are important to NECIC and the North End. Through increased involvement in community activities and planning, seniors can have a positive impact on the quality of life in the North End. To ensure NECIC responds to the concerns of our senior residents, a North End Elder has a designated seat on our Board.

Call Kay Smith at 419-522-1611, Ext 113 to reserve your seat at our next NECIC North End Elder Program.
