Farm Support Intern
Position Summary:The North End Community Improvement Collaborative, Inc. (NECIC) seeks a Winter 2026 intern to support our Farm projects— including the NECIC Urban Farm, RICI Farms, Teaching Garden, North End Farmers Market (planning and prep), and the NECIC Farm Stop Store.
This internship offers hands-on experience in urban agriculture, local food systems, and community-based food access initiatives. The intern will assist with winter farm preparation, planning, volunteer coordination, and outreach while supporting NECIC’s efforts to grow a sustainable and equitable local food network.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support operations at NECIC’s Urban Farm, RICI Farms, and Teaching Garden through planning, winter prep, and crop organization.
- Assist with planting, maintenance, and basic repairs across farm sites.
- Help harvest, wash, and prepare produce for sales and donations.
- Track farm data such as yields, volunteer hours, and compost diversion.
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers for farm projects and events.
- Assist with winter planning and vendor outreach for the North End Farmers Market.
- Support store operations, inventory, and product preparation at the NECIC Farm Stop Store.
- Help plan and deliver community-based food education and outreach activities.
- Participate in community engagement to increase awareness of NECIC’s food initiatives.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current college student enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade program.
- Interest in urban farming, local food systems, and community development.
- Strong organizational, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Able to work outdoors in varied weather and perform light physical labor.
- Must be a self-starter and able to work independently or in a team setting.
- Comfortable engaging with individuals of diverse backgrounds and ages.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance.
Compensation & Hours:
- $12.00 per hour
- Up to 210 total hours during Winter 2025
