The Store Manager for the NECIC Commuity Store will oversee daily operations of a youth-led, community-centered retail hub that increases access to health, affordable food - while building workforce skills and leadership among local youth.
This hands-on role combines retail management, mentorship, and community engagement. The ideal candidate brings retail or grocery experience, strong leadership skills, and a heart for people - someone who can balance operation with purpse.

Oversee daily store operations — opening/closing, inventory, merchandising, and cash handling.
Ensure compliance with NECIC fiscal policies, vendor procedures, and POS systems.
Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers and youth staff.
Manage purchasing, pricing, and vendor relationships — including local farms and suppliers.
Track and report sales, expenses, and performance metrics aligned with NECIC’s reporting systems.
Operate the Grab-N-Go Coffee Café, ensuring consistent, high-quality service.
Recruit, train, and supervise 3–4 part-time adult retail associates.
Coordinate schedules and support youth participants from partner schools.
Mentor youth in customer service, teamwork, and retail operations.
Create an inclusive, positive, and educational workplace environment.
Partner with NECIC’s outreach team to host tastings, demonstrations, and community events.
Support membership drives, loyalty initiatives, and customer engagement campaigns.
Represent NECIC at local meetings, community events, and public outreach opportunities.
Collaborate with the marketing team on store promotions and youth-led campaigns.
Manage daily deposits and transaction reconciliation.
Support budget tracking, forecasting, and cost-saving strategies.
Provide regular operational and financial updates to the COO and CEO.
Partner with schools on student scheduling and career pathway tracking.
Align store activities with NECIC’s youth leadership, food access, and violence prevention goals.
Collaborate with NECIC’s farm and development teams to strengthen local food systems.
3+ years of experience in retail, grocery, or food-service management.
Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
Proven ability to manage operations, budgets, and vendor relations.
Passion for youth development, community empowerment, and local food systems.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for community events.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in nonprofit, cooperative, or social enterprise environments.
Familiarity with food safety and POS systems.
Experience mentoring youth or managing youth programs.
ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain).
Knowledge of ABCD (Asset-Based Community Development) principles.
Degree in business, agriculture, or related field.
Valid driver’s license and insurance.

Salary Range: $48,000–$58,000 annually
