December Harvest

December 18, 2015 0 comments

Thanks to the hoop house and the unseasonably warm December temperatures, harvest is still happening at the Blust Avenue Teaching Garden.

An outdoor bed is doing much better than expected for this time of year!

The greens mix on the left is taking a bit of a chill, but the red lettuce, center, is going strong.  Arugula is on the right, and it's doing ok as well.

We like to take care of our volunteers here at the NECIC office.

Volunteer David shows off some beautiful collards harvested at the hoop house.

Inside the hoop house, the radishes needed a bit of thinning.

Without a doubt, these are the sweetest radishes I've ever tasted!

Not a bad harvest for mid-December!
