NECIC launches the African American Leadership Initiative (AALI)

After several requests from business leaders in the community to create diversity programs, NECIC is excited to announce the launch of the African American Leadership Initiative (AALI).

In serving Mansfield's diverse population, we realized that many of the assets of the African American community were unrecognized. Our goal is to recognize and connect those assets, encourage leadership development, and support residents in building a network that will ensure success. The mission of AALI is to identify and cultivate African American leaders in Mansfield and Richland County. Given that NECIC is an asset-based community economic development corporation, AALI aligns perfectly with the organization's mission and vision for the community.

AALI consists of three pieces. AALI Social is a monthly gathering for the purpose of networking and establishing connections. It is not an understatement to say that your network is one of the most fundamental parts of your career now and in the future. Not only that, but it's important to create a support system to help you in both your professional and personal life. AALI Social events will be on the final Friday of every month, starting in January.

AALI Speaks is a monthly speaker series where we invite inspiring African American speakers to share insightful experiences and stories. A great way to inspire leadership and cultivate people's assets is to expose them to high-achieving individuals.

Finally, the AALI Journey is a leadership development module for African Americans that will run from February 2019 through December 2019. Meetings will be once a month (for the entire day) and graduation will be in December.
